MUSIC FOR THE SOUL OF JAPAN

As a well traveled musician with many, many concerts in Japan performed within the last 25 years, I feel a very strong personal connection to the country. Last year I brought MUSIC AT HOME to Japan after touring the country with the Stuttgart Radio Orchestra. Earlier tours with the Deutsche Symphony Orchestra Berlin included performances in Sendai, where the big tsunami caused huge damage and many losses.

While our local TV news have switched back to normal life and weather forecasts by now, beginning of April 2011, people in Japan are still fighting the danger of a nuclear catastrophe and have to cope with losses, insecurity and a constant psychologic pressure. Especially in the San Francisco Bay Area we are aware of earthquake issues and understand, how much the people in Japan can need some positive spiritual support. LaDene and I dedicate this recital to Japan, sending some good vibes with music and supporting the Japanese Red Cross with the donations we will collect.

A friend of mine, Mr. Hiroshi Nonomiya from Tokyo, who is a passionate amateur bass player, will soon be in San Francisco for a very short visit from Japan. We took that unique opportunity to have him with us during the concert for a short report on the current situation from his personal perspective.

With fond wishes for the best support that can ever happen to help to resolve and ease up the situation.
